our history

The story of J.B. Steel is one of steady growth. When we opened our doors in Tucson in 1994 the goal wasn’t to become one of Arizona’s largest integrated steel fabricators and erectors. The goal was to provide dependable service, quality workmanship, and build lasting relationships with our customers.

Over the decades, that commitment earned the trust of general contractors, owners, and developers across Arizona. What started as a local steel contractor grew into a company capable of supporting some of the region’s most complex construction projects.

Built to grow

As J.B. Steel’s role within Arizona’s construction industry expanded, so did the resources required to support it. Over the years, the company has steadily expanded its facilities and operations to accommodate larger workloads and increasingly complex projects. In 2000, J.B. Steel opened a fabrication facility specifically designed for structural steel fabrication. This facility increased production capacity and strengthened our ability to support larger projects.

That commitment to investing in the future continues today. In 2026, J.B. Steel expanded into a new office facility designed to support operation efficiency and provide a space needed for the company’s next big chapter.

AISC Certified & Employee-Owned

Certified Steel Fabricator & Erector

In 2009, J.B. Steel received the quality certification from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) as a Certified Steel Fabricator and Certified Steel Erector.

Employee Stock Ownership Plan

In 2016, J.B. Steel introduced an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and is now 100% Employee-Owned. Every employee is an Employee-Owner with a vested interest in the success of our customers and our company.

Throughout its history, J.B. Steel has embraced new technologies that improve how projects are fabricated, managed, and delivered. From advanced steel processing equipment to digital project coordination tools, each investment has been made with a single purpose: supporting greater accuracy, efficiency, and reliability throughout the construction process.
